Ap_lane_070417_blog Jarrett Lane came from the small town of Narrows, Va. The senior civil engineering student was remembered at a memorial service a day after the shootings, according to the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. He was valedictorian of his high school class in 2003, an outstanding student and athlete who played in the band, and a member of numerous clubs and organizations.

In a prepared statement read at his memorial, Lane's family said, "All of us are still deeply stunned and in shock over the loss of our son, grandson and brother, Jarrett Lee Lane...He was a fun-loving young man, full of spirit. He had a caring heart and was a friend to everybody he met, both at Virginia Tech and here in Narrows. We are leaning on God’s grace in these trying hours and appreciate all the prayers, expressions of sympathy and thoughts. Our hearts go out to his classmates, friends, professors and everyone throughout the Virginia Tech community.”

I'm the sister-in-law of Jeanne DeLaune who is the 1st cousin to Vickie Jones, your son went to school with her children.

Just wanted you know that I'm lifting you and your family in prayer and will continue to pray for you as you walk down this path.

There are no words to convey my sorrow at your lost.

Remember the great psalm: 23rd Ps of David - - "as I walk thru" GOD the almighty is there.

In Eccess. it tells us "To EVERYTHING" GOD will provide.

May the Lord comfort, guide and heal you.

Numbers 6:24-26

There are no words to leaven the pain of your loss and this tragedy. But the following is a humble offering that hopefully will bring some comfort, when you feel the sun shining again:

In the rising of the sun and in its going down, we remember them.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.

In the opening of buds and in the warmth of summer, we remember them.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.

So long as we live they, too, shall live for they are now a part of us as we remember them.

I watched the news until I could watch no more. Working in a prison I have a first hand knowledge of the evil that abounds. Yet, I am still overwhelmed by the loss of life at Virginia Tech.
I look at Jarrett's photo and it is easy to see a fun loving kid. It amazes me how much personality shows through. He looks like the type of kid that would be hard to ignore when he walked in a room. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I have really no words that could possibly touch upon your loss and sorrow, may the smile of your son and the love you have for him bring the joy back into your hearts.
The world is praying for all of you.

Jarrett...a fresh all-American face...a high school kid who did something with his teen life...I looked at his picture and began to sob because his profile reminded me so much of my son who is in college and also was valedictorian and full of extra-curricular life like your son. My son applied to Virginia Tech but went to Nebraska instead. This mom will hold your hurt in my heart as I remember the face of your son and can't comprehend your loss. I am so sorry. I am so sorry for you all. I had a brother who was mentally ill, a paranoid schizophrenic who was very violent with our family. I always feared he would kill someone but he harmed a few of us. He is no longer alive. I want you to know I am going to remember this moment and pray for you in the loss of this precious boy named Jarrett.
